A box office flop on its release in 1982, The Thing has grown in stature over the years to be a regarded a science fiction/horror movie classic. Telling the tale of a team of Antarctic researchers who become embroiled in a fight for survival when a shapeshifting killer extraterrestrial appears in their midst, The Thing is acclaimed as one of the great films of director John Carpenter, one of Kurt Russell’s best acting performances, and a technical piece of art thanks to the unprecedented practical effects work from Rob Bottin.

The ATRM gang are here to go all in on the film and explore why it has endured so long.
